Stanton Williams have developed a proposal for a new sustainable family house with high quality materials that will replace an existing 1950's house. The site is situated within the borough of Camden within the Highgate Conservation Area.
The scheme aims to enhance and improve the site by retaining the existing trees and adding further trees and landscaping. The design strategy takes advantage of the sloping site by creating new additional space within the lower garden level.
Above the garden level, four spacious bedrooms float amongst the tree canopies, akin to a tree house, with south facing views over the garden. The positioning of the house on the site is set back from Fitzroy Park allowing more space for landscaping, whilst also providing a private and secure environment. Upon entering the house across a stone and metal bridge, the house opens up dramatically to views over a day-lit double height volume down to the lower garden level and beyond.
