Sloane Square in Kensington is a treasured but under-used square, dominated by traffic. Our competition-winning design transforms it into a safe, enjoyable, lively public space, reflecting its high profile location and importance as one of the Mayor of London’s 100 Public Spaces.

The scheme changes the domination of the square by traffic with a shared space design with granite stone paving to unify the space and delineate the new traffic pattern.

The original 1930’s crossroad layout of the highways is reinstated, removing the gyratory route and enlarging the space for pedestrians by more than 150 The Square’s intimate character, is preserved with additional tree planting and street furniture. New water features are introduced to create a lively aspect to the square, and help mask traffic noise.
