“Visually ravishing”, with “superb design playing a strong part in the impact.”The Daily Telegraph

An “illuminating example of contemporary exhibition design…a magnificently designed exhibition room – evocative of the period without pastiche – and arranged for the best possible display of a diverse array of objects…”The Financial Times

This 13 room exhibition of over 700 objects attracted the largest ever sponsorship for the Academy and was the largest exhibition ever mounted of English art under the Plantagenets. Every object, from the Becket stained glass window from Canterbury Cathedral to great wooden chests, oak doors, huge grilles of metalwork and stone carvings, had to be meticulously displayed, allowing the viewer to appreciate and understand its significance.
