Stanton Williams created a new gallery space for the Triforium Gallery at Winchester Cathedral for the display of the Cathedral’s collection of art and historical artefacts. It was completed in 1992.
The museum for the Cathedral’s collection of sculpture and historical artefacts was designed and built in the Triforium gallery – a 12th century space in the south transept.
Special environmentally controlled showcases were designed in glass, metal and limestone, together with necessary electrical and air services. They are integrated into the existing brick herringbone flooring of the gallery. New balustrading for the space is in beadblasted steel and glass and is carefully integrated and detailed into the existing fabric of the building.
