Our competition entry for University of Warwick proposed to create a dense village or ‘cluster’ of student and staff accommodation around two courts and a public square linked through a new pedestrian route running at the brow of the site between the formal levelled landscape and the natural sloping meadows.

The proposal included 400 student bedrooms divided in four groups of buildings orientated perpendicularly to the existing Roots student accommodation in order to allow all new and existing accommodation to have views to Tocil ponds and the Warwickshire countryside.

It will also allow for the natural landscape of meadows to penetrate deep between the new blocks. Buildings are offset from one another to allow corridors to have natural daylight and views from the end elevations. A village or ‘cluster’ of buildings is created.
