We were invited to develop a landmark sustainable building between the Woodberry Down reservoirs. The development accommodates one, two and three bedroom apartments and a community centre.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape of water, trees and open sky we designed two slim towers with an interlocking community building. Exceptional light quality and dramatic views from every apartment was made possible by opening up the form to the south and using a rainscreen glazed facade.
Conceived as ‘community in the sky’ the building has viewing galleries, sky gardens, play areas, recycling facilities and bike storage. Ecological impact, water and energy use was minimised through intelligent design, new technologies and choice of materials.
Shortlisted for a Sustainable Living Award, the towers demonstrate how sustainable, energy efficient new houses can be designed in a way that meets the demands of 21st Century urban living.
